Basically any Ducati that hasn't got a testastretta engine, bar the 998, will have the same starter motor as your ST2.
The "improved" unit that went into the 999 and 749, and is used in the new SBK's is more than just the motor. The starter gear runs different ratio's. It's not just a motor change. You'd need the idler gear, sprag gear etc. Even then, depending on the flywheel, it may not work as your bike is on the year that changed from 2 to 3 phase.
