Sorry to hear about the starter problem.
Got to expect some teething troubles I suppose.
The cluch fell off mine an week after I bought it! But that's a different story...some back street bodger had replaced it!
Sounds like the starter's pretty shafted!
Just a thought, but when you replace it be sure to clean up the the black 2 pin connecter that feeds the switch current to the solenoid and check it is not a loose fit on the solenoid. When this plug gets corroded or loose it can cause the solenoid not to work...I know it happened to mine and many other Ducatis have the same issue.
The solenoid aint always fu**ed! A bit of cleaning up of the plug and adjusting it to fit tighter along with some contact grease can work wonders.
