955sp finally arrived.
And it looks great. Cosmetically better than I expected. Much closer to garage queen level than I expected too. All original, which is how it's going to stay.
After a short ride I noticed coolant dripping out the front of the fairing, which turned out to be a loose hose clamp. It made the first right hander REALLY interesting.
Tightened the hose clamp, (verified it has a 955 engine number) then took a longer test ride..this bike rocks. spins up very quickly, feels quicker to rev than the 848 I rode over the weekend. Off course with stock pipes the 848 was fairly stifled. I have to say for the same money I am very happy with my choice. The 848 was nice but didn't leave me with any sort of "must have" feel. Hope I don't offend anyone with this take.
The 955 is really smooth at steady throttle, but rolling it on it feels like rapid fire cannons going off, much more so than my fairly seriously built 900ss. And of course it starts to pull hard at 6k, building through 8500, which is as high as I rev'd it on the first ride. I thought after riding supersports for so long the riding position would feel extreme, but it doesn't. Actually less "ass up-head down" than the 848.
I'll get some pics posted soon.
