Hi,
Why didn't you have the heads shimmed before it was put back together?
It's far easier to do the shims while the heads are off the bike.
The heads have to be on to dial the cams in, but this could/should have been done before running the bike.
Also if you're using the later type metalic head gaskets there's no real need to re-torque the heads IMO.
I've found that the later type none fibre gaskets don't settle any further, so don't bother anymore and I've not had a gasket failure!
The trouble is with the metalic gaskets you can only use them once, the old fibre type if they weren't damaged could be used again.
I'm looking into having made (or making myself) some solid copper head gaskets, which can be used more than once, the downside being that they will need to be re-torqued.
But at £60 the pair, I can put up with re-torquing the heads, as it costs me nothing but my time.
As an aside Bucci head gaskets (for my 955 kit) from JHP were as good as double the price,
£58 + vat each for a gasket with a 2mm larger bore/hole than a standard 916 metalic item...
So they want almost double the money for less material, which I thought was taking the pi*s!
Hence the copper gasket route.
