Only has to happen once in a million times but it would ruin your day, thats for sure.
Like jumperboy mine just has the warning light switch, on my first 900ss this didnt work and one day I did ride off with the side stand down, got to the first lefthander and the world went a bit sideways for a while, luckily I wasnt going fast as I didnt have a helmet on at the time!!..sore left knee, sore wallet extremly dented pride.... my BMW 850 GS has a switch so you cant even start it with the sidestand down..although you can on the main stand....which is a bit of a pain as with full touratech side panniers and a tank bag on it weighs as much as HMS Ark Royal!!
