No mention of top speed yet Dave, but here's the latest thoughts of one of the guys after running the Desmosedici on track:

"So I got to take the Desmosedici out for a track day session yesterday at
Portland International. As you can imagine that was quite an experience. The
bike has quite a few track days on it so far (560 miles worth!) so he has it
fairly well set up, but obviously not for me. Anyway it was great fun, very
fast as expected, but the god damn brakes are the most amazing part, probably in good part because the forks are supreme. In its heavy (430lbs) streetbike form, was fairly unwieldy and not very intuitive, but it was much fun. I can imagine someone that can run it in deep, square off the corner and blast it out would win. Me, not so much, I am all about corner speed and this, in its current form, was not the bike. I did get it going pretty well though and it did not get pussy-footed about. The power was not great out of the corners, low in the powerband, but man when it came on song it was screaming fast. I got into the rev limiter a couple of times.

I would say ultimately you would be faster, quicker with a GSXR1000/08 1000RR, but you sure would not have someone coming up to you every 5 minutes effusing about how awesome it looks, and you damn sure would not have that wicked sound following you. And those brakes..."
