Bike: 2008 S4RS tricolore

Advise: Should I go for the S4RS Tricolore or the 848?

Hi to all … I am new to the forum. I am already using the Monster 695, and in just 8 months I was bored from it since it could not match my skills. Therefore; I went to the Ducati showroom and I found those two bikes that I fell in love with … the 848 pearl white and the S4RS Tricolore… I took the 1098 for a test ride (they do not have an 848 for testing) for over 3 hours and I found it very powerful and a great ride during corners. But the seating position gives a lot of pressure on the wrists. It is a great bike on the road and it corners brilliantly. But for city traffic it is stressful on the body.

On the other hand the monster’s seating position is great for longer rides and city rides but at high speed (well my monster is just doing max 200km/h = 125mile/hour) it keeps my body exposed to the wind and it is really stressful. Plus at cornering I always hit my bike pegs.

I do not know how is the feeling on the S4RS tricolore and how much is the front fairing effective to protect me from the wind, but the Ohlins suspensions and the exclusivity of only 400 units ever build is very tempting.
Here came my frustration where I cannot decide between both. You see I will use the bike to commute to work with, but not every day, and to go out with the group, and to have fun with. The riding will always combine light and heavy traffic from city to highway driving and great corners all over the place. Track days will be rare.

I do not have the funds to buy both bikes at the same time… therefore I must decide between them. I am seeking your advice about this matter.

Should I go for the S4RS Tricolore or the 848?
