In fact they share bodywork and ancilliaries and that's it. The 848 is completely neutral and turns quick, very supersport 600 like. The 1098 is slower to turn and needs some more setting up to get rid of the understeer it feels. I'm nit picking but this is just how they feel to me. I reckon I could lap most tracks quicker on a stock 848 than a stock 1098 as it feels that easy to use and I cannot see one thing to improve on the handling, it would take a very good rider to fault the handling TBH

Ahh ok, I didn't realise there were so many differences in the chassis.
To be honest I'd want the power AND the handling so would get a 1098 and get it setup to handle well.
