Belts changing - the half belt method

Has anybody tried this method - I have on other motors

What you do is :-

1. Using a sharp Knife cut the vertical cylinder belt longways ie creating two skinny belts on the same pulley

2. Align marks on all the pulleys or mark your own

3. loosen tensioner on the forward cylinder and remove the belt DO NOT MOVE ENGINE SHAFTS

4. Loosen the tensioner on the vertical cylinder

5. Cut the outer skinny belt off the vertical cylinder leaving the other skinny belt in position

6. install the new belt half on the vertical cylinder and butt up against the skinny belt

7. When you are happy that you have entered the new belt onto the pulleys, cut the remaining skinny belt off and push the new belt home.

8. Fit the belt to the forward cylinder ensuring your marks have'nt moved

9. tension up

Viola
