I used to stress about my U turn, cos a foot down was an instant failure, & for about 75% of attempts I just couldn't get it, no matter what, even on my mock test, just before the real thing. Then the tester took me to the flattest, widest road in Northwich to do it, and it was a piece of p**s. My instructor had me doing them on narrow roads, often on an incline & one esecially with a wicked camber. When I'd passed he explained that he always taught them of horrendous roads so that when it came to the real thing, it would seem easy.
Other than that, exaggerate your observations, don't forget your "lifesavers", and make progress!
Oh, and as Stu says, enjoy the ride, you're out on a bike after all, can't be bad!
