Arrow How to dull shiney leather

Not quite as technical as some other posts but I am getting sick of the 'you look like you have just stepped out of the Blue Oyster club' jokes.
After I treat my black 2 piece Belstaffs with dubbin, they are to understate the matter a little ' quite shiney'!!!
Can anyone help me find a product that can take the edge off the shine or dull them completely?
Can't afford new leathers, just passed my test yesterday, bought a new helmet, got the Ducati 620 Sport, lot of money gone out so I would like to make good my second hand leather for a few months.
Thanks
Mick

Just keep wearing them! It won't take long - especially in this weather.

I wouldn't have thought dubbin was the thing to use to clean it though - I use babywipes!
Lots of people have shiny new leather at this time of year. It's nothing to be ashamed of.
Anne ( with nice shiny leathers)

I use my wifes Clarins stuff. Makes leathers nice and soft and cleans the dead flies off proper

Thanks Anne. The leathers are about 10 years old, bought from a friend and well cared for but a litte out of fashion, they lose a little bit of shine a couple of day after treatment but they are still to shiney especialy as matt leathers seem to be the trend at the moment so I would still like to find a product that will protect and dull them.

I know. I used to work for a seatbelt and airbag company.
In the industry seatbelts are known as restraints.

An older engineer that had never had internet access before typed restraints into google.
Oh the naivaty

Forget the Dubbin, it can rot the stitching................

Try Nikwax:

Dubbin is great for waterproofing and conditioning the leather, looked into the rotting of stiching, apparently the manufacturers say is does not! My leathers feel so nice after i have dubbed them(starting to sound pervy) but they are just far too shiny. maybe a product to go on top to take the edge off?

I found that sliding down the road and then a grassy bank into a hedge took the shine off my leathers.

Ah, I have been misinformed! I must admit I used it on my hiking boots for years with no ill effects (Ah, when hiking boots were made of leather, I like the technofest goretex stylee now!), so I don't know why I believed it in the first place!

Dubbin has been used for loadsa years on horse tack etc - lots of stitching there, and is perfectly safe to use on any leather with 'proper' stitching

Hi,
I think that most of us feel a little conspicuous when we 1st put on a new set of leathers.
As has been said before just use them lots 'n' lots they'll soon calm down.
