Sharp Helmet Test Results
Hmm, Schuberth S1 still says 'coming soon', though, so maybe they haven't finished it yet.

Thanks Paivi
Should be 'good' when it's finished but the explanations leave a little to be desired.
After all, is a 3 star rating good or bad? (3 out of 5 stars)
Also had link to the legal aspect for visors and goggles:

Good link Paivi
It will be interesting to see how all the lids stack up against each other when ALL the information is on the site.
We've always been advised to spend as much as you can on a lid, however, if you filter by 'Full Face/all manufacturers' you'll find that a £180 Bell M1 (5 stars) beats a £480 Shoei X-Spirit (4 stars)...!!!
Food for thought.......

Arai Rx7...is this for real???
How can the RX7 only receive a lowly 3* rating?? Me thinks this is a load of cobblers. Are these rating given purely for safety? Somebody should tell 90% of the worlds professional racers, oh and i think i'll get my money back and get a 1970's Bell lid

All Suomy lids on here are quoted at three stars, so maybe all the GP and SBK stars are merely advertising, despite the limited safety...

First off all lids used by starts are different then lids you buy. Just like Ford Focus WRC is a bit different from Ford Focus ST. Do not get fooled by sellers. That test is there to stop such action. Arai makes couple of very good lids and rest is overpriced and average. People do not know that and buy by brand. Star Riders advertise because it is part of their contract.
Another example - we all know what Mercedes stands for. It is German so precision, comfort reliability. Well did you know that Mercedes is the most unreliable of all German brands?

^^ second that...by virtue of experience and an albeit very expensive lesson. Never ever ever buy that crap again.

mmmm....wonder why Arai always get 5* in all the other tests ive read? I dont think they would make a vastly different lid for the professional market-they may have custom fit interiors but the manufacturing costs of bespoke shells etc would be prohibitive imho.

My Suomy may have only got 3 stars but it fits great!
Still a little disapointed as I just bought it and it's supposed to be a quality helmet.

I brought my 3 star Aria because it was the most comfortable lid I had ever tried.
If I buy buy a helmet because it has a good rating but gives the a headache after wearing it all day what's better?
The only good thing I can see is it will force the manufactures to improve standards.
Although should any helmet have a 5 star rating because that then says there is no point trying to make an even better helmet or use new technologies.
