Helmet choice

Just thinking of changing from my trusty Arai RX7 to a Schuberth S1 Pro for a quiet ride for commuting. Anyone have a Shuey? and what is your HONEST oppinion?

No biased stuff please, just honesty.....im fed up with BS from Hein Gerike and other shops.

I have been using an S1 for just over a year now and it is quieter than my previous Arai. However once the lack of wind noise becomes the norm it still seems to be quiet with all the vents shut. I have had a small problem with a visor internal anti fog layer delaminating but this was swapped for free. Otherwise a good helmet but you may need to try it on due to the tight fit of the base cuff. Even with the lower Db levels than most, I still wear ear plugs on my daily 70 mile commute to cut out all bar the Termis!

Pez. I tried one on today and had to go up one size from my usual Medium. But was feeling comfortable, alas my AGV was comfortable in the shop, and my Arai was superb in the shop too. Turns out the AGV hurts the ears by pinching the lobes over time. Arai 100% comfortable but darn noisey. Im not into fashion too much but i do like the Arai fit but the Schubert seems a decent lid, but not for track use i think....hell i dunno.
Why dont shops offer a test ride service for lids?

Or do i wait for Septembers BMF or the NEC show Nov-Dec and try to get a bargin price...the new RX7 RR5 looks funky

I've used an S1 for a couple of years now. It's a great lid. Very quiet and now very comfy. It hurt initially on my forehead, just above the eyebrows. I just pushed gently on the liner and compressed the protective shell slightly, It's been fine ever since. The opening is wide so you get great visibility. I also had problems with my visor as I left it in a sink full of water to soften the bugs and when I cleaned the inside it pulled away the anti-fog coating. My own fault but that's how I clean my Arai visor. The built in sun visor is a nice touch. The quality is superb. The new S1 Pro looks like a good helmet with some decent designs too.

I have the same problem with my AGV but only the right ear.
