And what a summer that was, ladybirds everywhere, went on for months, and the Eagles did Hotel California. I had a 400/4 after the crap old Triumph and a rather exotic girlfriend for a few weeks, happy days or WHAT??!!

Stevel, Hotel California was surely 1977?
1976 was Dancing Queen by Abba which knocked Elton John and Kiki Dee off the number one slot in August I think. Ah the Youth Club Disco, platforms and no punk just yet. An endless Summer, well May to September it didn't rain once. The Prime Minister resigned (oops no politics allowed) and the country went into debt with the IMF, quite a summer. 30 years later and we get the same again, but wet!

I did mine on a Aprilia RS125.
Great bike, but it has an aweful turning circle. The tester took me to an extra wide road to do my u-turn because he knew how bad it was.

Ah the LC there was a bike to dream about, I still want one! I just wonder how good they would actually be 20+ years later.
One week after my 17th Birthday I passed my test on my GSX250, this felt so fast (but could not reach the ton, without resorting to "extrream aerodynamics") compaired to the MT50 that I ran about on as a 16 year old

Yer right of course Stevel, it was a long time ago, but it's still a tremendous album, consider the slack cut.

Rossman I bought the 400 version of the 250 I passed my test on trusting that the years would be kind. It's a lump even with the extra horsepower! Funny how I can remember treating the 250 with deep respect even though it would struggle to 95mph on the clock.
So for both Stevel and Rossman I bow unreservedly to the fact that the passage of time is not only unkind to machinery, but to the old body and brain too.

This is the badboy I took my test on.... 100cc of pure unleashes aggression!
I always thought it amazing that if I had the cash, the day after passing my test I could have gone and bought a ZZR 1100... scary! But I loved zooming around the country lanes on the RXS in the rain, happy days.

I passed my test in 1972, on a 1971 250cc YDS7 Yamaha, my first brand new bike.

passed in june 1979 - Suzuki GT 185 , it had a clever start system that as i remember reversed the polarity in the alternator and used it as a starter motor , cool back then !!

Mine in 81 was a 74 round tank RD200 that refused to start, with the examinner on the pavement checking his watch, had to bump the pig!
Couldn't believe I actually passed after that!
