How pathetic.......

........how really pathetic!

After three of the main four Japanese manufacturer teams have suffered engine failures at the opening rounds of BSB, they are now moaning that the Supersport spec. engine rules used this year should be changed. Yamaha, Honda and Suzuki are all calling for rule changes to allow aftermaket con-rods and pistons to be allowed on safety grounds.

Whilst I fully support safety in racing, it's funny how a couple on months ago these very same teams were whinging that the Ducati 1098RS should be ineligible to race in BSB unless Ducati backed down from their request to be allowed to use aftermarket pistons................ on the grounds of safety. In fact I seem to recall there being suggestions that if that were the case, then perhaps Ducati should build engines that were safe to run within the stated rules.

Obviously now the Japanses are having their arses kicked by Ducati in BSB, they feel the need to build engines that aren't safe to run within those rules so need a rule change rather than accept defeat.............bloody pathetic

I have to agree this does smack of real hipocracy. It was the teams that called for supersport regs, sorry lads, if your engines are blowing up you need to turn the wick down a bit to get some reliability.

Woo! I'm a legend, 1000 not out.

the thing is with racing, is its only cheating if you get caught,

both sides of the arguement have valid points and there will never be a true comparison. You cant tell me when Ducati got the nod to homologate a 1200cc to compete, they didnt make a lot of the "std" parts ports shapes etc etc as near as dammit to where they wanted them to be for racing, without the need to make too much extra modding which would of been against the rules.........

What was that jhp said, the 1099 race bike is much nearer to a std bike than any of the jap bikes are in their race trim.......in true reverse psychology style!

If the 1099 wins the WSB/BSB people will say its because of the cc advantage.......it cant win either way

From BSB website:

"After carrying out a detailed review of the performance of the twin cylinder and four cylinder machines over the first three 2008 BSB events, MCRCB consider the twin cylinder machines have enjoyed a competitive advantage and has authorised the modification of the minimum 165kg weight limit regulation for both twin and four cylinder machines by applying an increased new minimum weight limit of 175kg for twin cylinder 1200cc motorcycles."

I wonder where they are putting this extra 10kg weight. A few pies and pints of ale for the rider or a few bricks in panniers, perhaps?

the weight thing should be an overall package - bike and rider at a minimum together. for everyone, then the skinnies have a problem too. and the fatties can eat less.

Did the BSB rulemakers give any consideration to the number of DNFs from the 4-cylinder teams?

Perhaps the championship table would look closer if the IL4 riders had shown more consistency?
