The other teams would be much closer to Ducati riders in the championship if they stayed on board their bikes more regularly. You have to finish the race to score points. I'm sure we all remember Nicky Hayden winning the 2006 MotoGP championship by finishing regularly on the podium?

Surely if this withdrawal goes ahead, those of us with advance tickets should be entitled to a refund?

I've emailed both MSVR and Donington Park, but so far (unsurprisingly) no response.

If the Japanese factories can't build engines to a high enough spec to stand the sate of tune needed, that's their problem not Ducati. All the Duc's have a more limited rev range thanks to the lack of dispensation on special pistons, which the other teams vetoed at the start of the season.

What goes around comes around as far as I'm concerned, but that still leaves me with weekend tickets for an event that doesn't have the team competing that I wanted to watch.

This has been released not long ago :-

Superbike Regulations – Minimum Weight Limit

Further to the bulletin issued on 19 May 2008. MCRCB has received a communication at 7.00pm this evening from Ducati Corse advising that it would be not be safe for the Ducati 1098R motorcycle to race with a dry weight in excess of 168 kilograms without prior testing.
Accordingly and to alleviate the immediate need for the fitment of additional ballast MCRCB Bulletin 2008/6 is superseded by the following.
For immediate application and valid for the event at Donington Park 24-26 May only.
1200cc Twin Cylinder motorcycles conforming to MCRCB Superbike Technical Regulations:
Minimum weight limit 175 kg - applicable for qualifying practice
Minimum weight limit 170 kg - applicable at all other times
All other conditions of article 5.2.3.2 apply.
The change in the regulations by MCRCB is in accordance with Article A.5 of the MCRCB Sporting Code.
The MCRCB will issue a further bulletin under this heading prior to Round 5 of the Championship at Snetterton.
Ends

Andy

So they turned up and won both races?!..... I am guessing that they did not have the weight penalty applied?

Although, it is interesting to note that Although Byrne won both, his team mate was 5th and 4th, with IL4's filling 2nd and 3rd slots in both races.... as has been said, a lot of it seems to be down to Byrne rather than just the bike.

Actually they did............the 10Kgs were applied for practise and qualifying, but only 5Kgs for the races. However this was supposed to only be for Donnington, and the 10Kgs will apply to the races as well at the next round............stay tuned for more developments
