Agreed, they were very poor and as I said, I wouldn't want to go near them again.
Interestingly enough, I heard the same story from another dealer, some Dutch guy bought a load (Iwas told 1000) from Ducati and gave a verbal promise not to off load them in Europe, or something like that. Verbal agreement I think Ducati have A LOT to learn.

Ducati Service needs in south london
As a senior Ducati Technican at D.L.S. it came as a shock to all of us to loose our jobs in a single afternoon.
My posting is to advise all who read this that i have set up a fully functional workshop in the Epsom (surrey) area to continue serving the ducati community in south london or indeed, further afield.
I can offer all the services previously found at D.L.S. but with a friendly one to one relationship.
i have put too much time and effort in getting this far in my chosen career to give up now!
please dont hesitate to call to discuss ant aspect 07783 024 248
thanks

Sounds good to me, however you've still not told us your name and I'm not quoting factory Duc tech.S.London each time we have a chat. Joking aside, thanks for joining the site and I hope your new independant (non DLS) business goes well, all the best!

Hello friend.
I am just dropping you a note regarding my 999 ( 2003 ) I just polished up my exhausts Pipes and got the bike up to show room standard. But..... the Oil cooler just decided to spew Oil all over the floor. I have been told that 999 were recalled for this fault.... but not all 999's were needed to get their Coolers changed. My Bike was registered in August of that year. I will be contacting Alvins of Edinburgh where I bought the Bike. A very good Member of this site told me that if the Bike was recalled it should have the Log Book stamped when the work was done.
Any info on this would be very helpful,
A fellow Ducati Owner,
Jim

Having experianced DLS customer care I take my ducati to Ducati Proteam in wimbledon, its hard to find but they know their stuff inside out, and above all else they are honest and love ducatis. its not a showroom just a small garage, give em a try 020 89477555 you will not regret it. ( and no i do not work for them )

Hi Ian, welcome to Ducatisti!!!
Heard of Pro-team before, where in SW19 are they????
I've been using Protwins down in South Godstone, but as I live in Earlsfield, it's a bit of a trek. Do they just service and repair, or do they sell parts?

This week Ducati South London (and the North London shop) went into liquidation. This was Ducati's largest and top-selling UK dealership, incidentally.

Does anybody know anymore about this?

Dan - in interests of balance I think you will find that Italia Moto in Lincoln out sell others and, they were awarded that title "Best Ducati Dealership 2005".
So there is a healthy Ducati dealership network out there, mainly those who have been with the marque a very long time and know there stuff, not Johnny come lately's. Small (or in some cases big) independents doing a fine job for us Ducati Owners providing first class after sales service and technical knowhow. And in the case of Italia - a sales team that speak straight and don't treat the punter as an idiot off the East Enders.
ps: I don't work for Italia Moto - but I do buy and have my Ducati serviced there for many years.

An excellent point, well made northworthy.... but this thread was never intended to have a go at the independants, they do a sterling job in most cases (and thank god they're there), this thread was merely created to inform readers about the state of the Ducati South London Dealership at the end of last year.
I'm sure the independant network will also receive reawakened interest by the current non-Ducati buying public as this year moves into 2007 as more attention is drawn to the launch of the Desmosedici and the Ducati 1200. However the situation remains that in 2005 'offiicial' Ducati were in a terrible state, with too many models on offer, no clear direction, poor delivery times, and a 16.6 million euro loss in the first nine months of 2005.
