Two-Four-Italia (Hampshire)
At last my 748 is back on the road, and i'm on cloud 9! Never really meant those comments about buying a Honda!
Anyway, for the benefit of anyone else with my clutch problem, here's the solution....
I phoned around this morning to get a Ducati dealer to look at the bike, as I had come to a halt with regard to what to look at next.
Moto Rapido ... 'Can look at it Mid June'!
Snells....' Can look at it mid June'!
3 Cross ....'Can look at it week after next' or 'Try Tony at two-four-Italia in Ringwood'
I duly rang Tony at 1045 am, who luckily had a gap in his workshop schedule. 'Bring it down and I'll look at it while you wait'.
Hurriedly put clutch cover and fairing back on, grabbed my leathers and rode down to Ringwood, about 40 miles from my house. Arrived at 12 noon, after a very jerky journey thanks to my clutch. People following me probably thought I was riding like a comolete ******!
'Do you want a coffee?' Yes please!
Tony looked at bike and tried various things, including stealing clutch pushrod etc from his own bike. Stripped clutch. All looked OK. WHen putting clutch back together, Tony felt some play in the assembled plates within the basket. Out came a sheet of glass, and lo and behold, a couple of warped friction plates!
New plates fitted (£127 inc Vat + £30 labour) and I now have a working clutch.
The clutch feels very light at the lever due to the fittment of MPL slave cylinder, so I can reccomend that.
Clucth is now a delight to use, and the smile is now back on my face.
I have read some poor reports about two- four-italia on the UK Monster owners site, but my experience was fantastic.
Treated like a customer, excellent service, free coffee, happy for me to watch, chat and ask stupid questions. Thanks Tony I will return when I need more help.
Thanks to all who posted advice to help me get my clutch sorted.
