Post JHP Service for South West Owners!

For those who have met me last year I loosely discussed the possibility of a group of us sending our bikes to Ducati Coventry for a service and splitting the transport cost.

Anyway had a chat with John Burrows this morning and he is happy to collect and return the bikes in a 2 week turnaround, I have offered to be the point of contact and organise a central pick up point etc for all those interested.

He would need to take 4 bikes back with him this would mean FREE transportation

(I don't see a problem in a pickup point for Andy & Dave in Taunton should you wish to benefit from this service)

The idea is to do a quarterly run and see how we get on. obviously if there is a great demand we can make them more frequent.

John also mentioned that they are currently reviewing their pricing for pre 07 models to try and ease the pain a little!

lets face it a JHP service history won't harm the resale value of your pride & joy and with free pick up & collection it would be rude not to!!

PLEASE NOTE: this is nothing to do with Dan or Ducatisti.co.uk and in no way implies affiliation with JHP its just lil ole me chatting to JHP and trying to sort out quality servicing to the Ducatisti of South Devon/Cornwall

No - it certainly won't affect your resale value, but I have to ask, as good as JHP is at the job, when it comes to servicing it is pretty much a "follow the book instructions" which any dealer can do more or less just as well.

If I was having major changes/rebuild and the such like done to my bike, yes using someone like JHP makes sense irrespective of distance to be travelled - but for a straightforward regular service?

Fair point from someone that knows engines inside out, what I don't think you realise is that down in deepest Devon we don't have a "proper" Ducati dealer that gives piece of mind and flawless service levels so if we can all get our bikes to arguably the best dealer in the country for no pennies I think it makes big sense

Fair comment - understood. If you have questions about the service you get locally (and there are franchised dealers around who I wouldn't let loose on a bike I owned), then yes your idea makes sense.

Could you negotiate a discount on the basis that you guys are giving JHP a whole load of business in one go?

As a businessman myself I think that negotiations can take place dependent upon the amount of work we put their way; I am sure after a period of regular business these things can be discussed, currently the offer of free collection and overall reduced prices for tariff servicing is a good start IMHO

Thanks for the offer

I actually phoned JHP last month and discussed them collecting and doing my SPS and Mrs H's Monster - On balance I've decided to go with Louigi Moto in Bristol again instead.

Blimey! Its nearly a month later! You still waiting???

My SPS and Mrs H's Monster have been picked-up by Louigi Moto, serviced and returned already - here's how I got on ... Louigi Moto - Top Man!

Give Rich a ring if you don't need an official Ducati Dealer stamp - as a 'one-man-band' its a big ask but you never know, he might be able to make a trip down to Devon. He is very good, bound to be cheaper than JHP I would guess, and it is nice to support our 'local' Ducati specialist in the SW

Just read the post - you are clearly very happy!

Can I be cheeky and ask exactly what work you had done on your 996 and what it cost?

As my bike is now out of Ducati Warrenty, I was thinking of having my next service, which is a minor one done by SP in Exeter or by Rich at Louigi Moto.

What I would like to know though Jimmy how long are JHP holding onto the bikes before shipping them back?
