Motorline Ashford?

Anyone have any experience of these guys? they seem very helpful; but are they any good at servicing?
I have just moved to Canterbury and will need to use them as my local dealer.
Any Ducati guys in the area? if so, do you ever meet up anywhere: maybe at the Oakdene Cafe or H's place near Lydden?
Jim.

Hi Jim

Not had any experience of Motorline personally, but the old regime took a slating ! It is under new management and I understand that they are very knowledgeable.
I live in Margate and can often be found buzzing about on my custard coloured 900ssie. Get to H's on the odd Sunday and Wed evening. If you are out and about pm me and we could meet for a ride perhaps.
My bike is not back on the road yet, new chain sprockets and belts to be fitted. Probably sometime next month.

See the thread in the Workshops etc forum:

Motorline Ducati (Ashford)

As Jim says they are under new management and to his credit the new guy has posted candidly in this very thread.

Thanks. I read the thread... I am waiting for a quote for a 'part service'.
The bike has done nearly 3k since I bought it in July 06... I am not sure what the recommended change interval is for the ST4 belts.. there are conflicting reports! 6k or two years I have been told and 6k or 3 years??

UPDATE....
Motorline quoted 750 quid for a major service!!!
Belts, shims, fluids, etc,etc...seems a lot to me??

I also spoke to DHR from Dover..they had a much more reasonable approach and worked out a lot cheaper.... They will do the oil change for about 100 quid and check the belts to see if they need changing, rather than automatically changing them as the bike has only done 2500 miles since last belt change.

I used DHR to check my valve clearances last year, They seemed ok to me.
If they are checking the belts to see if they need changing, why not change them. All the stripping down has been done and for peace of mind and the cost of 2 belts, seems odd not to do it. 2 years is the recomended time period, I would guess that non use can have a detrimental effect on the belts as well as mileage, hardening etc.

Pax,
Yep your'e right... Peace of mind is what it is all about, and the belts only cost about 50 quid... I think..
Do you recall what they charged for valve clearance checking and did they actually do anything like shims?
Jim.

Jim.

£129 and they shaved a bit off the shims on the rear cylinder, if I remember correctly.

Bike: 1098s (March 1st)

Motorline Ducati, Ashford

Ok guys,
Not long (March 1st) before I pick up a new 1098s from Ducati Motorline, in Ashford.
Will keep you posted how things go, with pick up/delivery,
Servicing/after sales care
Warranty back up (though I hope it won't be needed)?

virtualtwit

Hi
I bought a 749s under the old management and am getting a new 848 ( also on 1st March ) with the new guys. Having had experience of both the old and new regimes I would say that although I never personally had any major problems they weren't all that switched on! The new guys seem a lot more professional.

Hope to see you Saturday!

Richard

Thumbs up

Richard,
What time are you collecting the 1098? I assume as soon as the shop door is open you'll be in there?
