good point
good point. That is the root title
and with that statement who do you use? Is there a recommended dealer sticky thread in this section? What ya recon? might be worth adding?
Guess pro twins wouldn’t be in the top 100 of this possible list.
Perhaps leave the i do the work myself. as it doesn’t help such people when they are looking for these answers, but then again it does encourage people to have a try?
If you and i write to the editors of ducatisti.co .uk to start it, then we can help improve things and possibly prevent the issues that occurred to mad. Although Steve I guess that it might get open to abuse? comments.....

To be honest James, I wish I didn't have to use anyone. I think we've all had our problems. I do use Daytona in Ruislip and on the whole they're not half bad, but, someone else (V90) bought a bike from them and had a disasterous time. So I guess you pays your money and takes your chances.
If you take a look, there is a sticky thread re Dealers and this is part of it. We'd all be interested in your experiences, let us know, good or bad

The thing is James, this area if for good & bad reports, people just seem to be having a lot of bad experiences at the minute. If you have a look through there are some happy stories too, honest!

Happy Stories? Hell, I can name two stories that I won't stop talking about 1, Dave's in Wandsworth ( www.ducatibikes.co.uk) and 2. Daytona (Brett) in Angel. If these are too far out of the way i apologise. If it weren't for these two individuals I would sell all three dukes i have. I love the bikes, but it is a minefield to find a good mechanic/shop.
It ain't worth waking up in the middle of the night thinking of a way to get back someone who has done you wrong.

notsospeedy, Have a look at this post ' Any Ducati Specialist's in the South West?' and see what you think. There is a place close to you in Mortonhampstead that deals with Dukes, so ask your question in the above post and I'll tell you my experience...

Hi all, newbie and prospective 999 owner here.
I have to say that after having read my way through the whole of this thread, I am starting to get a little worried at the prospect of buying a Ducati.
Having had 3 KTMs over the last few years I have found that as a company they have been fantastic with any and every issue I've had with various bikes. Nothing has been too much trouble. The only reason I write about this is that it would seem that the attittude of Ducati in matters like this and of DrBobs 1000LE leaves a whole lot to be desired. Are there any Ducati dealers in the UK that everyone on here has only had positive things to say about ? Are the main dealers generally better than the franchise guys ?
Just have to say also that this is an excellent forum - expect to see me around here quite a bit...

I doubt there is a dealer anywhere in the world that 'everyone' would agree on, that is human nautre.
Even PT have had good things said about them! I have dealt with 2 dealers, one was very good and the other was OK. I also know the Infinity guys quite well, they have dropped Ducati because they are too much agro to repair and they were losing money!
Ducati is an exotic brand and it's Italian, so don't expect 'Honda' reliability, but have you ridden a Jap bike recently? they are boring!

Yeah, I've ridden Suzukis, Hondas, Yams and they all make going fast very easy. I have also had an aprilia RSV Mille, which was fantastic and reliable(13,000 miles of trouble free biking), so I am struggling to come to terms with the 'Well, its a Ducati. What do you expect ?' Kind of stuff.
What I expect is that any dealer where I spend a not insubstantial amount of money will be at the very least professonal - both DrBobs experience and Mad48 cannot even claim that with what happened with them.
It must sound like I am against the idea of a Duc but that is not the case. I just want to get it right first time, and that starts with buying the right bike from the right dealer.

muchomojo, I agree as a customer you need looking after by dealers-but the Mad48 and DrBobs threads are only one side of the story so cannot really be commented on -seeing the video of the DrBob PS1000 it doesnt look like a very cared for bike

This has been a very good thread with everyone willing to give their opinion. It is good to see that people are comfortable enough to speak up. The whole story irritates me to the point of riding over to PT's and peeing on the their front door... but I think I will head to bed instead.
Mad, sorry to hear about gnasher. I wish you the best in rebuilding it. I am sure it will be a journey of rewards and furstrations. You will be happy when it is done and you have proven to yourself that the guys at PT are nothing special. I wish you the best of luck and keep us posted on your progress. And if your in need let us know too.
Thanks for sharing.
