I won't tell if you don't! You might want to do something about the exhaust note though

Yes, I think I set myself up by washing it on the Saturday........

I think theory for me this year is to try to look good even if I'm not winning anything

See you at Mallory Park..let's hope it's a nice sunny day for a great start to the season

Imola - Photos to come. Just need something worthwhile to take photos of first

Right I have now purchased some PF pads which should arrive within a day or so now all I have to do is get some decent brake fluid to use.
I have clips for my front mudguard coming so that's good then I think I am read to test the bike at Brands Hatch this Saturday.
Oh...I just remembered, does anyone know of anyone who sells those 'airblade' (is that what they're called??) screens for a 998 style nose cone.
My painted fairing belly pan and seat unit arrive on Friday but i won't be putting them on the bike until my first race. Anyway my brother needs them so that he can put his company logo, race numbers etc on it all
Funnily enough my brother has also had some zip up tops done out in the company colours as well. He came round on my birthday with it all wrapped up. I couldn't believe it when i saw it......err...it looks a bit flash. I've got a lot to live up to............

Signing off for now.....pictures coming next week

Well things are moving slowly for me. Situation is:
  • I am still waiting for my fairing. Have been told it will arrive next week. I will then need to make some braketry to hold it on as I am going for 1098 fairing and currently I have braketry to fit 916 style fairing. I have received my airblade screen though, courtesy of Solo Corse.
  • I then have to get the graphics put on which my brother is going to sort out for me. Can't wait to get it all together.
  • I have found a powder coater close to where I live who will coat my front wheel for me. I just need to take the wheel off and get it to him and all the bits that will die in an oven. Any advice on what I do with the air valve would be good - do I take it off etc. I haven't even tried yet so it will probably be really staright forward.
  • Change brake fluid
  • Check throttle cable - I heard about Rattler's experience in Guadix so will be extra careful about checking these things. Anyone know what to look for to check whether it might stick?
  • Then I have to get another track day in. I was going to go to Mallory next week to meet up with some of you huys but I can't take the time off work sadly. I definitely need to sort something before the first race cos I wobbled round Brands on my first time out on the bike. Definitely need track time!!!
And I think that's it. I know it's a month away but before we know it we will be lining up on the grid thinking.....'I'm Here!!'

Cheers for now

Franco

Things are moving slowly for me.
One bit of fairing arrived today - the nose cone. Problem I am having is that the opening for the screen seems alot wider than the actual screen. I could try pushing the two sides of the nose cone to meet the screen properly. Seems a bit drastic and it will all be under stress as well. That's only my first look so there may be another way. The thing I have found since doing this racing malarkey is that it isn't like dealing with road kit. For instance the words i always hear is '...well that's race kit for you, isn't it...' when something doesn't fit properly or needs some farting about with to make it work.
TBH at the moement i wish I hadn't spent the money and spent it on track time instead. But you live and learn.
Other than that I await my seat unit and other bits of fairing; still have an oil and filter change to do, brake fluid change, powder coat front wheel, change tyres.

I did do a sneaky morning at mallory last weekend though. It was wet to start with but slowly dried out. At least i know which way round it goes. Didn't like the hairpin or the bus stop. The rest was fine.

Cheers for now

Franco

Hmmm...the course of true love never runs smooth, eh?

I'd be interested to know how you get on with the airblade screen in the end, Franco...we have one on order, although we are using the SS-style fairing, so this may only be of limited relevance.Out of interest, which make of fairing are you using?
