anyone running a bike-cam this season?

havent seen any footage floating about from mallory...

so i'm in the process of sorting out some equipment to stick on #98 for the rest of the season. Hope to post some bits up on youtube, and maybe if my editing skills are up to scratch, i'll knock up and end of season compilation... thats a maybe though! if anyone gets any decent 'off bike' footage around the paddock, that can all be mixed up with it

I've got one of those Oregan cheapo cameras, although they do a reasonable job for the money. I just need to fit it now....

Ok, i bought a mini-dvr that uses solid state memory, and i bought a bullet cam with external mic etc. Total cost of setup worked out around £105 including delivery charges etc.

I'm gunna do a trial run on my commute home this evening, and get it fitted up for oulton. If the quality is ok then i'll release details on the kit i bought for anyone wishing to set something up

yeah, i've so far used it in the office for checking that the boss isnt behind me whilst im surfing the net, and also for catching my colleagues out whilst they surf the net! but i've only been able to view on the devices onboard screen (2.5"). so i'll mock something up on the bike for the ride home then try and figure out how i get it OFF the DVr and onto the PC. This might work out easier to do if i use a mem card instead of the built in mem. Then once i sussed how to do that... how the heck do i use the footage? comes as an 3gp file or something?? i'm sure it cant be that tricky...

3gp is a format used a lot by Mobile phones too (my Nokia 6300 for instance). You can download 3gp to AVI conversion software free of the internet I seem to recall, google search may bring something up?

ok, have uploaded a tester onto utube YouTube - Test (higher quality) obviously quality's been brought down.

The recorder occassionally froze during recording, for literally half a second here and there. wether thats a problem with the recorder, or cos it was saving to its internal memory i dont know. i was going to try an sd card, but it doesnt seem to recognise my sd card for some reason! these could probably be edited out anyway.

there's a fair bit of vibration on the cam, but thats prob cos it was stuck to the screen of the SV. i found the rubber suckers weren't too great so had to push them back on with a gloved hand!

Not bad, and room for improvement with more careful camera mounting.
