my thoughts on the incdent are that it was a racing incident pure and simple , there was no dodgy pass or even pass we where on diff parts of the track .Cleggys fall I can't comment on as I didn't see it , altho he said in the ambulance he thought he remembered high siding (but was very concussed at the time ) , I know I didn't have time to react to his bike hitting me ,also the marshalls made clear to my brother I was on the racing line and did nothing to contribute to the accident , there where several marshalls who all got a good view of the whole thing and they agreed that it was just an unfortunate situation ,, I have been passed by Cleggy and most of the rest of ya loads and always been happy with it ,I am looking forward to getting on the track asap and have no worries about anyone out there . It was a big off and makes us all think but I love it and intend to love it more ,,
I think the fractures got missed as was so shocked really and its hard to discern between battered and broken sometimes James lol or they would have to x-ray everythng and they did say at Carmarthan that I would need more pics on shoulder due to the initial swelling, they got the shoulder blade tho !! the wrist and rib only became aparent the following morning hey ho L&R Sarah x

You've made some good points. I agree that some people need to show a little more respect and consideration on the track. There are racers out there you feel very comfortable riding close to, I hope others feel that way about me, and there are racers you feel very nervous riding next to for various reasons. Fortunately it's only the minority and I'm not going to go into names.

My comments earlier were simply to prevent a bad taste situation with people pointing the finger at either Cleggy or Sarah - no one needs that, least of all two people who've been hospital and been unconscious.

Cannot and will not judge people on something I didnt see.
My view is based on purely things that happen to me, too regularly to be accidental IMHO.
Racers force people out wide towards the edge of the track but to ease people onto the grass shows very little respect for how dangerous the sport is and/or utterly irrelevant DD racing is in the big picture!

Don't quite understand what you are saying. This incident as purely a racing incident, was cleggy lost it but his much higher speed when he lost it caught Sarah up and his bike bowled her over.

Milliseconds earlier or later could have been so much different. Just one of those and everyone wishes that the outcome could have been different.

I can only speak from my own personal experience in DD over the last couple of years, ranging betwen the front and the midfield, and though I have been subjected to some "firm" moves over that time, none has ever been dangerous. I've always found that I've been treated fairly and with respect by other riders, and try to do the same back.
You're more likely to have such a move put on you in qualifying, especially by some of the Class A bikes running near the front, because they're on a "hot" lap and they need to pass you without losing time, so a couple of times I've had to stand up on entry to a corner as they come through on the inside, but I've no real complaints at that.
It's probably also true that you get used to being in close proximity to other bikes and to adjusting your line mid corner when necessary, so things don't bother me now that would have when I started. This is also true of others crashing - the first "off" right in front of me got me a bit excited and I lost concentration on what I was doing for a couple of seconds, now I hardly register it anymore and just get on with what I'm doing.

Tried to be clear, didn't see Sarah /Cleggy thing but in general I feel a little more care could be taken and respect shown to others when overtaking than what I see by some individuals each meeting.

I don't think anyone ever feels that they are doing anything reckless when overtaking, sometimes it's close other times it's not. There are times when I have had a sharp intake of breath when passing or being passed but rarely have I felt anyone was dangerous or deliberately doing something to push someone onto the grass.


First race on Saturday at Pembrey I came into the first corner too fast and when the rider in front moved I realised just how close the corner was. I was not in complete control (probably more than it looked though) and it was a bad judgement on my part. I tried to apologise to the other riders after the race as I felt my actions had not been good but they were not intended to cause an incident.
