Any sorted DD bikes for sale?
As i mentioned in my Brands thread i'm tempted to do some DD races and after having looked at the regs it would appear that as a novice i've got to start in class B (which is a shame as Martin H had a lovely class A bike for sale recently).
Does anyone have a sorted class B bike for sale, or know of any that might be coming up for sale soon. I'm in no rush but the sooner i get a bike the sooner i can get practising :-)
Regards, Jon.

It's not.
There is no rule that says you have to start in Class B as a novice BTW, and a number of people have started straight in Class A. The only rule re class and experience works the other way - no experienced racers to join class B, to preserve it's novice friendly status.
So, if you fancy Martin's bike, go ahead, nothing to stop you at all! Be aware the Class A pack is, on the whole, a bit faster . . .

Zimbo's correct, I started as a novice last year and jumped straight into Class A as a bike was available.
MartinH's bike is a cracker, he's spent a fortune and the attention to detail is stunning just wish after my winter rebuild it had come out as nice as his

Now thats something i didn't know?! if you want Marftin's bike have it son!! it's awsome!
But the main difference between the classes is money! you 'll spend more in class a in tyres, servicing, mods, etc,etc than in class b, but class b bikes(i have recently found) are quite competitive against the likes of the faster class a bikes!!
It's your choice, but i'd stick with class b for the first season, and if it's too easy for ya, move to class a in 2010?, maybe?

bollocks!!
you dont have to spend anything!!
you CAN spend money!! but it's not necessary!
yes the bikes are mroe expensive to start with and you can use more tyres if you push harder (but so can top class B boys) but the rest is all optional!

I have to agree totally with Claire on this. The bikes may cost more to buy initially, and so they should. The 620s are newer bikes and on the road prices for the 620's are higher than 600's and are a better bike on the road, so should cost more.
After that the costs are pretty much the same. Bodywork, rearsets, suspension mods, bars etc. are the same cost for each bike. It's up to you whether you do them on either bike. The only significant difference is the fulleing. On the 583's you can fit a Dynojet kit and on the 620s you can fit a PowerCommander. Both are optional, but the PC will cost a bit more to buy and set up correctly. However, the 583's will almost definitely need a Dynojet kit (although some choose to run without one) whereas the 620's can run quite happily without the PC. Rich Casmore's 620 runs without a PC and goes very well. I would guesstimate that the cost difference between a Dynojet and a PC with setup is £200-300. It's easier to get the fuelling right on the 620's though as FI is easier to work with.

spot on there Lily, having run an A & B bike for 3 years we spent the same on both - the only exception being the original purchase price for each!
C
ps: corrected to add a capital B as per mr Ghosts comment

Thanks for the replies guys,
As much as i'd love to buy Martins sorted Class A bike i think it's probably better for me to start in class B, at least the lower start-up costs will mean i can spend more on track-days etc to improve my riding which is the main reason for going racing (for me anyway).
I've had a couple of people contact me regarding bikes for sale so looks like i could be joining in the fun soon. I'm gutted that i'm going to miss my local round at Brands tho.
Regards, Jon.
