600ss Monster Exhausts
Any of you big boys know if there are any problems with fitting a 600 Monster exhaust system to the 600ss? I'm looking at a 1999 Monster Dark to fit a 1994 600ss. Can anyone confirm that most 750ss carb exhausts will fit the 600ss too?
Cheers

I don't think the Monster exhausts will fit. Do a seach on here as I think it's been covered before. The 750SS system will fit the 600, and several DD'ers do fit it. Bear in mind that it's a 2 into 2 system and the standard is a 2 into 1. The 750 2 into 2 actually reduces power output so I would not fit one.

The route of the headers is different as the swinging arms and frames are different, so don't think it'll fit sadly.

I have modified 900ss headers fitted to mine with twin cans and I can assure you it has not affected its power output.

I run the 2 -2 system on the DD bike, with the correct set up carbs and filter it Will improve the power, it will just change the power curve slightly and deliver it at different revs..

I've spent the last few weeks since Pembrey fitting a new engine in to TP's bike. In an attempt to squeeze every last bit of power out of the engine I have gone really overboard with testing different things, amongst them the exhausts. Yesterday was dyno day. The old engine made 49 bhp and 34 lbs of torque. First off we tried it with 750 headers. We had to alter the jets but got it running right on the money, and it made 52bhp and 34 lbs of torque. Then we went back to the standard 600 headers with 2 into 1, and again we had to alter the jets. We made 53bhp and 36 lbs of torque with a wider powerband, so that's what we are going to run with.
In short, the standard headers produce more bhp and torque than the 750 headers, when fitted to a 583 engine. This ties in with testing done by Skidlids, and confirms what Mark Hill at MHP reckoned too. By all means go ahead and fit 750 headers. I think all DD'ers should fit them. We need all the advantage we can get.

At the end of the day, my bike has been sat here for nearly a month now because I'm unable to to find replacement pipes. I was even willing to sell the house to buy a new set from Ducati but alas they have none either. I use the bike to commute 14 miles each day and to woo the ladies (and Gents!!) with style and sound, something which we all know Ducati does best! When it comes to power and performance, I'm not fused. I live in Cornwall, it's hard to do over 30mph without tractors, hedges and sheep jumping in my way!! I appreciate all the help and advise you guys give. I'm just checking all the options available to get my bike back on the road and to stop the missus from moaning at me for using up all the petrol in here car!!!!

Well if money isnt the question get onto Mark Hill at MHP and he will make you some headers.
