what about cans?

Thanks for input guys! One last question, will a set of 1998 900ss cans fit 750ss carb pipes?

yes and no... if you are using the standard cans they will fit onto the downpipes but as the frame had a re work with the injected models the standard brackets wont line up with the pillion foot peg hangar things. if you can get hole of some aftermarket exhaust straps with the rubber bit you can mount them that way... i did on my carbie

if you need piccies i'l put some up later

here you go mate, i used the standard injected cans, cored them and then mounted them as you can see from the piccies, so its not impossible

no idea what size they are sorry, they came with a viper can i had when had the 2:1 system on the bike (couldnt afford a new set of cans at the time so went for the standard ones)
coring basically is stripping out most of the innards from the standard can to improve airflow and add much more volume
just with those cans i set off many a car alarm

heres the link i used to help me core out my cans : DISSASEMBLY 2

Some wise chap once invented a tapemeasure and I've come to the conclusion that the cans are 380mm in circumference. The wonders of modern science!!
Thanks for the link lowry, I did wonder if there were any mods that could be made......guess there will be no need for the neighbours to set there alarm clocks every morning!!

I've just noticed the clamp missing from the front downpipe. Can I get away with cutting the old one in half?

Hi,
Not answering your last question...
But the lad in the link may have made his pipes louder, but it isn't coring in the true meening of the word!
To do the job properly and get a performance gain, you need to remove all of the mechanical baffles (everything between the 2 end caps) then weld in a straight through perforated tube of either 45 or 50mm ID, wrap this in silencer packing, weld a length of flat plate along the full length of the inside of the can to line up with the holes in your outer sleave and drill it to match up with these holes.
Now either weld on some 8mm nuts or fit threaded inserts, to accept the original hanger bracket bolts.
Put the whole lot back together and use stainless pop rivets ...
You'll now have a pair of cans that will work and sound as good as a pair Termi's, as long as you alter the feuling to suit by either 'chipping' or 'Re-jetting'.
Also they'll look the same as standard pipes unless you look up the ends.
Which should keep the MOT man and the Police happy.

Steve
