Bike: 900ss 600ss DD race

Zimbo, Harriebird,

Which members of Ducatisti race in DD ?

I may have found a 600ss ! just waiting on a phone call
few questions
new era membership start date ?
DSC membership for racing same as club membership ?
Can you ride a dd racer at trackdays ?
because i am on a low budget what race leathers are best in value and protection ?
Which clipons from other bikes fit the SS forks? I think they are 52mm ?
Sump plug, filler cap ,filter, lock wire ? Not a clue !!
Do all race fairings have the required oil tray? SS
Are all meetings over 2 days. Practice etc ?
Think thats it for now
Steve

Bike: Multi, 600SS DD

New Era membership runs per calander year - starts Jan and ends in Dec.
To race in DD you must be a standard, paid up DSC member, no more.
Yes, you can ride a DD racer at trackdays, it's lots of fun beating up Gixxer thous and R1s with only 50 bhp
Race leathers - ebay is your friend!!!
Clipons are 50mm - early R1, GRS-R750 / 1100, ZXR400 all fit as do a few others. I'd get some where you can replace the bar, it's the first thing to get damaged in an off.
Lockwire - those three really. Sump plug - drill a tiny hole sideways and down into the allen key internal hex, filler plug is easy (small hole through corner) and oil filter, tighten a jubilee clip round it and lockwire to that.
Race fairings do generally have the bellypan included, the Ricambi Weiss one certainly does.
Most meetings are all on one day (usually Sunday) apart from Castle Coombe and Assen.

Good luck with the bike!

Bike: Class B DD bike #6

if you're getting the bike now, and not racing until next year you can leave off the worrying about fairings and oil trays and lockwiring etc.

definitely go with ebay for cheap leathers, especially if you are a normal (ish) size. a cheaper brand of leathers, and widely available are RST but people i've known have said the zips can be cheap and prone to breaking so it's up to you. mind you i've heard of people coming off and wrecking a grand's worth of Dainese suit in a single crash as well so who knows.

PM Nogaromill999 about leathers too

you're ideally placed for a day out at ACU house too so no worries there. the grids are a bit depleted now for this year so will you be joining us soon?

Failing that (Which is Class A 620cc) there's one for sale near Leeds, here, complete ready to race package 600SS including spare engine and wheels etc.

http://www.ducati-upnorth.com/forum/...ead.php?t=5318

I've known the bike since the start of last year, it was ridden last year by Grib before it was sold to Dseered over the winter, he's done a few rounds and decided it's not for him. the bike is reasonably well prepped and fast, I know cos I fought with it most of last year!!!

Each one costs more to run than a modern superbike.
