Desmo Traction Control

Glen, we were chatting earlier, heres the pictures to represent my ramblings of how it "might" be put on the desmo (only confirmed by US dealers so far).

1098R

desmo

Looks like all it needs is the same monobloc, the only difference is the sensor on the side of the 1098R monobloc.

There wouldn't necessarily be any need to change the brake calipers. On the 'R' the bracket which holds the wheel speed sensor is held in place by a bracket which fits between the calipers and the fork leg, with the caliper bolts passing through the bracket.

Also, if you look at the picture of the 'R' there are ferrous pick-ups (forget the technical term) in the disc that the sensor needs to get its input from.

In addition, if you look at the 'R' parts catalogue, you will notice that it has a TC control unit in the tail piece. Hope this helps.

thanks Rod, very helpful. Still unsure whether its actually going to be done or not. Seems the wiring is all there, just the TC unit and the sensor to be added. but then again who knows......

just phoned my dealer and he hasn,t heard anything, but says he will look into it. he also tells me that another 14 desmo,s arrived in the uk this week, apparently the factory has gone into overdrive and is trying to get the remaining bikes out as soon as poss, so maybe you wont have too long to wait........
