I WANT A DESMOSEDICI (aka D16RR)......... (Just in case anybody was wondering!)
The most amazing looking and sounding bike in the world in my view.... ever!!!!!
As for how it rides, that I feel I'll have to leave to my imagination, as I'm struggling to think of a way of convincing anybody to let me borrow their's. The attached picture is one I saw at Assen, it got started every few hours so everybody could look, listen and dream....

A couple of guys on the RC30 message board have had their Desmosedicis on the dyno, and they are each putting out 170+hp. Moreover, having had them on the scales too, they've found that they weigh a hell of a lot more than Ducati are claiming.
Personally, I think this is the nicest Ducati since the 888, but it's too much hype!!

Whats the top speed they've had out of them?

I saw one in Ducati Manchester a couple of weeks ago as well, they are....unbelievable. Only the Italians could design something so beautiful....
but I know what you mean funky' the "Tricolore" is the dogs as well.
You never know if the lottery pays up I can have both....
....yeh right
DC had delivered another D16RR that morning and watched the new owner ride off to fill it up with diesel.......

It's those lies, damn lies and statistics again Steve!
I'll bet that most of the owners are still quoting the Factory figures...
Much like 888SP owners!
I'd still sell my Mother to buy one though!
They look and sound awsome in the flesh IMO.

No mention of top speed yet Dave, but here's the latest thoughts of one of the guys after running the Desmosedici on track:
"So I got to take the Desmosedici out for a track day session yesterday at
Portland International. As you can imagine that was quite an experience. The
bike has quite a few track days on it so far (560 miles worth!) so he has it
fairly well set up, but obviously not for me. Anyway it was great fun, very
fast as expected, but the god damn brakes are the most amazing part, probably in good part because the forks are supreme. In its heavy (430lbs) streetbike form, was fairly unwieldy and not very intuitive, but it was much fun. I can imagine someone that can run it in deep, square off the corner and blast it out would win. Me, not so much, I am all about corner speed and this, in its current form, was not the bike. I did get it going pretty well though and it did not get pussy-footed about. The power was not great out of the corners, low in the powerband, but man when it came on song it was screaming fast. I got into the rev limiter a couple of times.
I would say ultimately you would be faster, quicker with a GSXR1000/08 1000RR, but you sure would not have someone coming up to you every 5 minutes effusing about how awesome it looks, and you damn sure would not have that wicked sound following you. And those brakes..."

Yes, it's about time the manufacturers came clean regarding 'dry' (ahem!) weights and power output figures. So much tosh is bandied about. 170+hp is waaay less than the "..200hp @ the back wheel" (as quoted by a factory official on the last video I watched) - but it doesn't have the same marketing clout, does it?
The only 'dyno measured' figures I know of with regard to 888SPs are those quoted by the various road test articles I've read - and they're printed somewhere else on this site I think (or the DSC). They're down on the factory claimed figures, I know, but not by much. (Didn't Jasper have his 888 dynoed before the mods? What did it produce? I can't remember )
Having said all that, I do know that my RC30 is making just 112bhp, and I know it would leave my 888 for dead in any given situation. Much of this may be down to its overall balance/chassis superiority, but for the life of me it feels faster everywhere! Maybe Ducati's cavalli are just a bit less responsive than H*nda's cv

Not so at all oopsmoments! -a post would only be removed if it is deemed offensive, agressive, political, sexist or racist. Everyone is entitled to freely express their opinion, provided they keep within the boundaries of acceptable behaviour.....!!

Thats a bit disapointing, as in reality its got no more power at the rear wheel than a standard ZX10R (as tested by MCN), which is a fraction of the price...and they're green!!

I guess the potential for more is there though Dave ..with the 'upgrades' which will surely be made available..!
..and a lower output can only be good for reliability, eh? ( Maybe Ducati should offer a three year warranty on this bike )
