saw three on Sat - one was even on the road. ProTwins have two in at the moment, or did, and one was tooling round the M25.

Yep - that's what Pro Twins said £40k it is. It does however include 3 years guarantee and 3 years servicing. Bargain!

Having said that - we all know that we want one!

I was there the other day when they fired one up with race pipes on!

Yes, but I'm in Surrey tomorrow on the 1098 and if I walk in off the Street can I have one?

Hi chaps

I posted this link elsewhere yesterday on the Ducati forums, so maybe you've seen it. If you haven't, it's worth a watch: Jay Leno's Garage

I'm wondering though about the hype surrounding this bike. Does it need it? It's the first Ducati I'd be tempted to buy since the 888SP of the early nineties, but I'm averse to 'hype' and always have been.

Does it really weigh '..about 363lb?' A guy I know with an interest in V-fours (RC30 owner) has weighed his own new Desmosidici at 427lb (inc. 3gal of petrol @ 18lb).

Does it really put out 200hp @ the rear wheel? The same guy has had his on the dyno, and it is putting out 172hp @ the wheel.

Will it really rev over 16,000rpm? The RC30 guy says his won't rev above 13,500rpm (which is where it's making max. power).

Pointless figures, I know, since it would still be more than enough for my needs, but hype of any kind - dishonesty? - really bugs me. Has any Ducati ever lived up to the factory's claims for it on its introduction..?? Only time will tell with this one, I guess.

royum,
I don't think there are any available that weren't ordered, so it is unlikely that you can get one... Motorline Ashford have one arriving this week for a customer, which i hope will be on display?

Hi Mark

Perhaps I shouldn't have asked the question, since it merely detracts from the more important points I made.

However, I'd have asked the same question if it was a Suzuki. So far as I'm concerned, they're all as bad as each other. All I want when I'm perusing a bike's specifications is the truth.

Not to worry though, it'll all come out in the wash. Buy one a year from now and you'll know exactly what you're getting. Buy one now and you're victim to the '...it's a headlight and a pair of mirrors from the GP bike,' kind of hype.

I was lucky enough to see one at Motorline today, and even better to hear it with the full system on it... It is the most amazing bike I have ever seen; the 1098R looks nothing next to it IMO.... and the 1098R is special....
It is even more beautiful than the MV F4 which was my favourite all time bike in the looks stakes...

Thanks Jim, bit of a b*gger that, still if they make money I hope the production run will continue.
