I on't think they are building any more, it was a limited run of 1500, 172 came to the UK; The UK is the 3rd largest recipient after US & Germany.

Well today I asked if the local dealer can find out if they're going to make any more and how long I'd need to wait.

What do you think of the Desmosedici, a dry weather only bike or capable anytime bike. Would I be better off with a 1098R?

Problem with 1098's these days is that everyone's got one.

Probably a better investment than a 1098R, but I think the Desmos are now selling for 50k!!!
I think it is a usable bike and you get 3 years free service included; being a 4 it is easier to ride in some ways than the twin...
I personally wouldn't ride it in the wet, why would you!!??
The 1098R specifically, is still a rare and exclusive bike, not surprising at a base price of 24k...

For me, seriously as in: you've found a couple of D16s which aren't already assigned to a customer?!

For me, seriously as in: you're willing to spend £40k on a bike that you can only ride on dry days?

Jim, according to the salesman they have two available towards the end of this year, Desmosedici are apparently being built at the moment in the factory. A £5K deposit secures the bike and they have one of each colour option.

Roy,
Thanks. I was told by Ducati that they are still wading thru the backlog, people who ordered 18 months ago are getting them now!!!
The 2 in question must be cancellations?
Jim.

Jim I think you'll find that Ducati always said that deliveries would start at the beginning of this year and the last ones would be delivered by the end of the year. I may be wrong, but I would reckon that the 2 available bikes were bought for stock, as they are due for end of 2008 delivery.
