Cold Starting in the Morning (Ducati 1000ss)

guys, fairly new to Ducs - only bought mine in sept so no winter experience yet . . . but i thought i read somewhere that even with the cold start switch on, you have to give the throttle a blip in order to get it to fire up on the specially brassers mornings?
Checked through my (Dutch) manual again but can't find it there - did I dream it?
I have tried it a couple of mornings this week and it works a treat with a little blip.

cheers gents
Willie

Mine Fires up fine all mornings now that i keep it on a Trickle charge,

I just spin it over once so it dont fire, then put the cold start on and BANG it fires straight up no worries!

Had same probs with starting, even after being on Optimate all night. Very reluctant this morning and it's not even that cold. Getting a new battery very shortly (20min) will see what that does. Will try Ollie's tip too.

They normally dont like it after sitting for a while, but i always do that incase there is a problem with the bike can notice it before it starts and becomes terminal! (it does help if you know what your listening for! lol)

I do exactly as you do Ollie for both the 900SS & 749, find it works a treat!

I have no problems with mine so far.
I bought a can of cold start from a motorfactors, I spray about half into the airbox, put my charger on full power attach to battery, turn cold start lever to maximum and fire her up. She spins up to about 5000 revs and I let it run like that for 5 mins or so to warm up.

By the way its for sale anyone interested
