Marzocchi Shock Rebuild?

Does anyone know what grade oil and quantity is needed to refill Marzocchi shocks (Ducati 250 Mark 3 1970)? I've replaced the rod seal but other that trial and error maybe someone knows the answer to save me the grief. Cheers chaps, Alan.

marzochi oil

I understand that automatic transmission fluid is the best bet .Its what i will be using in my 250 forks.I also use it in the primary chaincase of my norton. Its also done 80000 miles unchanged in our car ,and in my 30 yr old commercial box!! .A versatile product??, some commando owners report treble life of primary chains.

Years ago Marzocchi used to sell suspension fluid (oil) in bottles labeled Marzocchi, further down the printed label were the words...Manufactured by Bel Ray Lubricants.

Well best get it changed soon then Bob. I used to subsidise my income overhauling auto transmissions from minis to Torqueflites and turbo hydro 400's etc.

It is not a fill and forget product and at 80k its well due for a change. Drain the converter also if possible.

Marzocchi rebuild

I hear you GHOST, I would have had the oil changed years ago but any time the professionals lay hands on my wheels it comes back with more problems (some lethal) than it went in with. How about, disconected rear brakes,Tyres inflated to double pressure,Track rod nut stripped and refitted, These were Merc and Audi dealers.Oh yes I watched them drive off the ramp with no wheel nuts, have confidence oh yes!!.
