I would do exactly what the manufacturer recommends, no more and no less! They know the bike, and have all the stats on bike reliabilty upon which to make their recommendations. As Stevel says any other strategy is based on much more flimsy eveidence.
If its a Ducati, then for most models they recommend an oil and filter change every year on low mileage bikes. If you dont change the filter then a fair amount of oil is left unchanged, which will contaminate the new oil when it circulates. Ducati oil fiters arent expensive.
You dont mention which bike it is, so its a bit difficult to answer the question about the fairing. However I would have thought that taking it off every year for a clean up and visual inspection would be a sensible precaution.
Like Stevel I won't comment on the type of oil. As long as its the right spec recommended by the bike manufacturer I dont think it matters, although I prefer not to mix types of oil.
