Decent thick oil??????

Thicker the oil, the more drag, the less power end of lol.
The oil I use is fully synthetic 10w40 Shell.
I change it every meeting.
Believe me, these things get really hot without a cooler when there being used hard.

Currently I have fully synthetic 10w/40 Shell in the bike and at the start of the season until the end of the Assen round I had 15w/50 Agip fully synthetic. I can't say I've ever felt any clutch slip (although I do find my starts are crap), and I often have my bike up to 9,500rpm and above at the end of straights.

But back to original question, "should I remove my Carb Heaters", it seems that everybody has a different idea on this so I'm still undecided. Originally I was simply thinking of removing the carb heaters (and not fitting an oil cooler) to keep my bike as simple as possible, thinking that the less parts it has the less things that have the potential to break.

If you're thinking of how to decide whose advice to take, Dan, it might be worth checking who is where on the leader board.

If it was me, i would have them off and potential you are warming the fuel up even more before it gets ignited, and you get the most amount of energy from cold fuel as its denser.

Bike: 1991 Ducati 750/900ss

My bike is an early 750ss with a dry clutch, and it has been dynoed at 63.5 bhp at the back wheel. It has never had an oil cooler or carb heaters fitted, and seems to work fine. I have done quite a few track days on it, including a couple of scorchers at Cadwell, and never had any problems. The bike is most likely to get hot if you spend all your time sitting in traffic, and that is probably when an oil cooler makes the difference. If run at high speed, there should be sufficient cooling air to keep the temps within a range that the oil can cope with.

Having said that, I am in the process of up engining it to a 900s lump, which is going to have an oil cooler, but then that is going to make a lot more power (and consequently heat)

I would like a set of carb heaters to go onto my 'built' 900 engine, would you mind selling them to me? or perhaps I could do a swap for my oil cooler blanking plugs on my 750ss engine???
