Members Bike - Dan's 1998 Ducati 600ss

Many of you may have got bored of me talking about buying a 600ss for the track, but eventually I've gone and done it. Now it feels like I've been saving for flippin' ages for my very own preferably 'Yellow' Super Sport, and I've visited a few cheap wrecks along the way, but the bike I've ended with was worth the wait I feel.

I bought it last night in the Midlands, it's reasonably immaculate for a 1998 bike, 12,000miles on the clock with good service history, the only problem is that it looks so stunning I haven't got the heart to take it on the track but I imagine that'll change when the sun shines.

The belts were last changed April '07, so I don't feel the need to get them done quite yet or work on the engine, so it'll just be a quick oil change and service first and then I'll try and upgrade the suspension and then think about doing the necessary for it's metamorphosis to track day rocket...... I'll update this thread as and when I make any changes.

I'll be at the back of any track day or race, so I'll need fingers crossed, prayers and lots of luck in addition to any cheering that might happen to come my way!

Been looking for over a year Kes but all my chat has never amounted to anything so stopped mentioning it, for fear of people getting bored:

It would have been easy to get a common red one, the search took so long because I was looking for the Ducati connoisseur's colour, plus my 748's red and wanted a change!

Turn it in to a race bike but just ride it slowly so as not to damage it. That's my advice for what it's worth. To guage your speed accurately just remember to stay behind me.

the trouble with writing stuff like this is that irony isn't always obvious.

Lovely Jubly Matey and in the proper colour. Now you really must get yourself a YELLOW DUCATISTI T-SHIRT, oh and while you're at it I'll have two
