748 Temperature Gauge Replacement

After my bike fell off it's stand last Christmas it managed to crack the temperature gauge. Now as the months have moved on this little hairline crack has now fractured right across the plastic window and through the surround so time to replace it me thinks....

I priced up a new temperature celsius gauge with Ducati Coventry and they said it would cost £100, and eBay searches are asking for around £50 for a Fahrenheit gauge (haven't found any celsius gauges). Anybody know of a good aftermarket source for a celsius one at a sensible price? Or has anybody got one they want to sell?

One more thing, is there an easy way to get to the back of the clocks without having to remove the lights?

Just called Ducati Coventry and they've just quoted me £86,88 (plus £4 p/p) for a Celsius temperature gauge so I've bought one. Not sure why it was so expensive when I asked in person two months ago.

I put my new temp gauge in yesterday and I'm please to say it only took about 10mins to do the task, however I forgot to take a pic of the finished product..... doh.

Step One
With all the fairing off just unscrew the highlight adjuster bolt, and push on the back of the headlight unit to release the headlight assembly from the upper mounting rubbers.

Step Two
Remove the horn, to get access to the lower instrument panel retaining nut.

Step Three, Four and Five
You can either disconnect the headlight wiring or just tape the headlight unit to the top of the mirror supports, whilst you undo the three nuts which hold the instrument panel in place.

Step Six
Replace the Temperature Gauge making sure the three connectors are replaced in the right order..... then put the whole thing back together.

It's one of the few benefits from work... my hands are as soft as a babies bottom, from spending so much time in gloves! As for catching anything contagious, the only thing my bike's got is soul..... started it up for the first time in four weeks, after doing the above, and videoed the event. Needless to say if started first time and sounded amazing. A few weeks away from the saddle and it feels like Christmas all over again!
