748 er's
1.A little info please would a 1995 748SP have come with a km speedo?
2.Were they supplied with Termi's and Alloy cans?
3.What size would the Termi's be?
4.Are they lots of fun to ride? (kidding)
I'm looking at getting one to go with my S2R
Cheers

1. All SP came with Kph speedos (they were all imports officially)
2. They should have come with 50mm Carbon Termi Cans and a 50/45mm connecting pipe and a matching chip (066 as opposed to the 060 original). Now, some dealers kept the extra pipes and supplied 45/45 standard cans, some dealers put the 50mm cans and connecting pipe on and kept the originals, some got both.
3. 50mm end cans with 50/45mm connecting pipe into 45mm pipework to headers
4. Nah, they are crap. Seriously though, they have a very different engine feel to 748E or BP. I was very surprised to find the SP is quite quick in comparison to the 996. Doesn't have torque of the 916/996 engine but it spins up fast and has a great power step around 7500rpm right up to 11000rpm thanks to the SP cams. Loves to be revved. Is a bit noisy on the top end of the engine. Can be a bit pricey on the servicing in comparison to the rest of the range.
Are you watching the one on eBay at the moment? That looks like a good standard example in my opinion.

When you use the 748 forum at the top of the page you now see the following:
- (????-????) 748RS
- (????-2003) 748R
- (1999-2003) 748SPS
- (????-????) 748SP
- (2000-2002) 748S
- (1999-2002) 748E
- (1995-1999) 748 BIP
Can anybody help to fill in the missing dates, plus are the dates I've figured out correct?
Thanks All....

Hansae, sounds like the frame number. If you post details of the equipment (shock, forks, wheels, colour, subframe material, caster adjustment) you may be able to get a confirmation of the bike designation on this site. The original 748 range was Strada, Biposto and Sport Production and they did not change much until 2000 when the 748S was introduced (with 5 spoke wheels and TiN fork legs). Prior to that the SP and SPS had different engine internals and subframe to the more basic models

Thank you Denzil the Ducati ,
Here are some pics of my bike.
I am offshore at the moment , but I think that the sticker on the frame says modell 748S.
Is there some other place on the bike I can see what modell I have ?
This fairing , was it an option in 1997 , or is it mounted later ?

Looking at the graphics I think those were introduced in 98 when it became part of the "official" Uk range

PT, yours will be a late registered one as they stopped manufacture in late 2001 as far as I can tell with the MY2002 models. You can usually work out roughly when the bike was actually built (as opposed to registered) by checking the back side of the bodywork. My MY02 748S has a seat unit and other bits dated July 2001. The seat manufacture date is quite easy to spot on its underside.

Hansae, the fairings on your bike are the ones fitted to all the MY2002 748s, I have them on mine. They were not an option in 97, however they may have been a late addition if the previous owner dropped it or just preferred the the 998 style. There were about 100 MY1997 bikes sold as 748S, you can identify them as being a standard monoposto with biposto bits but without the alluminium sub frame. That means the 3 spoke wheels, the discs you have, no oil cooler. According to Ian Falloon they were sold as follows
MY1997.
Red 25
Yellow 10
Red Germany 32
Yellow Germany 3
Red UK 20
Yellow UK 10
Therefore if your bike is indeed a MY1997 748S it is a rare beast

Thank You again Denzil ,
My bike was first time reg. 1997 -11-14 ,
and imported to Norway 2002-04-18,
Does 748 AUSF.S mean that it is from Austria ?
(The seat manufacture date says 1997)
