LOL that really is a de ja vous you were looking over my shoulder.

Yes ML You can negotiate fairly well with Duke Aylesbury. Or when I bought mine from them I got £500 off as I told them I didn't want them to service it or have any warranty. So I prob got it from them at almost cost to them.

Titanium nitride is very hard it is on the vickers hardness scale at 2200 to 2500 A wheel bearing race on the vickers scale is approx 900 vickers. Have you ever noticed those Ti coated twist drills is doesn't wear off too easily does it.

Except the fact it is harder to brake I did not understand anything! That is good any how.

I did the same thing when I bought mine from Moto Rapido.

My idea was to take the service but not warranty. Just that I would not tell them about warranty part until the service was done. As an extra motivation.

What is a fair price for 749s due 12k service and one which had it done? How much 12k costs on average?

Why don't you keep the Monster for another year and use predominantly the front brake; that'd feel like a brand new bike for you. After a year, you'd have gained the extra NCB and might afford the 996.

Do not like to wait and got bored with monster, it is fun but does not feel right.

My mental image:

When I think about any monster I get the picture in my head of small bike (like looking at bike from far away). Funny it is black in my head.
When I think about 748 the same mental image just bike is sienna grey or yellow.
Now when I think about 996/749 or 999 the bike is much closer, almost to big to fit the frame . 996 in sienna again, 749 yellow or red and 999 red only.

I am crazy I know.

12k service you would be looking at the blunt end of £650 ish but if the clearances required adjustment then that would be more. It is as easy to remove the heads and do them on the bench. You could be approaching £800 ish then thats why I do my own. It takes a while to undress them before you even get started doing the job.

Ok so at the end it would be 1200 to 1400 for service including unexpected. Clearance is not easy to check which is a problem when you buy. I was wondering if I could make a dealer put on the invoice checked clearance and price for it. Just in case.

Anyway, Monster learner, if you live in Lewisham you'll only be doing 20 mph anyway...

It looks that I am set now.
Next week buyer comes to take the monster baby and pay the rest of cash.
Then I am buying the garage like this (my insurance is taking it as garage)
Motorcycle Garages - Trimetals

model mcg940 with alarm, hasp+padlock and flooring.

Should be good enough for working on the bike as well.

He could put it on but would you KNOW that it had been done, only by seeing it in the workshop in a state of major undress.

I would look for a nice bike that runs well and has just had the belts changed doesn't stall. Run it for this year then just have the clearances checked for next winter. and if the heads have to come off you are 8 months further on and you have had your summer fun. Your head is going to be screwed with this paranoia.

I'm off to bed now all the best.

Good advice, I will look for a bike from moto rapido as only good coments about them and my monster was done brilliantly by them so should be fine. Then I should be fine.
