No, as that's fraud. Also, if something failed related to that work not done but invoiced, you could sue them for negligence so they wouldn't risk it.

That is my idea. They said 12k service will be done so I will insist on putting that in as it is part of service.

We already have 20mph on residential roads and I am fine with it. They are so narrow with cars on each side that I want all of them to obey including me. Yet if they make for example lewisham high ST 20mph then that is to much. They will leve it very quickly, so many boy racers around here with huge exhausts and us bikers. Noise will go so much up because of 1st gear.

ML,
A new bike; how exciting (and a proper bike with fairings too....). I would have replied sooner but I've been away for a few days.
I've not ridden a Monster , apart from riding Paivi's up the ramp of a recovery truck ( )so I couldn't compare the two.
If having black is very important then you could easily pick up a "Dark" and upgrade this with a steering damper and adjustable tie rod for little money. I still have the standard Showa suspension on my dark but I have though about adding an Ohlins shock and tie rod although in my opinion it is debatable that I'd be able to appreciate the difference on the road. I bought my 04 Dark in October last year for £4600 with 2750 miles on the clock.
To clear up the swingarm situation, I think 05 bikes onward had the black fabricated swingarm, with earlier bikes having the grey cast item. My dark is an 04 with the grey cast arm and I've been informed that on the road, it doesn't matter which you have.
Regarding the garage situation. I discussed this with my insurers (Express Insurance) and they consider my wooden shed as a garage. I bought a standard 8'x6' apex shed with double doors (essential) and added strengthened floor boards, insulation and reinforced doors and beams inside. The fact that it looks like a normal garden shed means that it is less likely to be targeted as few people know what lives inside. If it is to be broken into I'm 99% sure that the culprits will be local "kids" who will take the better half's mountain bike and not touch the bike.
If you want to come and look at my bike and have a play with it you are welcome as I'm not too far away. Cheers,
Ed

Bike: 06 749 Gloss Black

Just a quick note to say that there are non-dark Black bikes, not many but worth looking for, they look great in Gloss Black. I would say that of course as i have one....
I think they were '06 onwards though so will be a wee bit more expensive.

I've ridden that!
1_POB> Shurely the Dark doesn't have a Showa shock (as stock, anyway)?
My understanding was that only the 'S' had the Showa shock, and the Dark and the stock 749 (like mine) has the Sachs jobbie. Although, they're fine, in my view.
I'm no riding god, mind!

Off the top of my head, without checking, the Dark has a Sach shock and I think the 749 base has a Showa.

Another thing that may be worth mentioning (and I foresee an avalanche of facetiousness here) is that, in my view, you get more "bang for your buck" with yellow bikes.
Because there is a sizeable minority of customers for whom it's "red or nothing", yellow bikes can be harder to shift, and may be priced accordingly. That certainly seemed to be the case when I bought mine, compared to other bikes the dealers (Moto Rapido in my case) had in stock.

Maybe
Funny tho, the plain black bike for me does nothing, but the black xerox 999/749 is for me stunning.

Sorry- you are dead right. All the more reason to swap Sachs for Ohlins
Cheers,

Couldn't agree more with that - maybe even prefer it over a Red one
