749 eng light shows when stopped!

When starting my engine or stopping at lights my engine light comes on. Pull away and it disappears. I have tried holding the left button on the dash down while turning the ignition on to find out what error code relates to this, but none are shown.
Anybody any ideas?

I've had this with mine since I got it, I think i mentioned it before on here, and got loads of different ideas about what it could be. It's defiantly not the battery on my, i've changed that and use an optimate. It went after I got it serviced, but came back after a couple of months ? I'm putting it in for another service next week so i'll be sure to point it out to them and see what they say.

Thanks Saxman, let me know what is found. For info, battery reads 12.7 V without engine running and 14.1 V with. battery seems good to me.

mine has been doing this over the past week, then yesterday it totally died - issue was actually the fuel pump relay. Disconnecting this and bridging the connectors as a test started the bike and the yellow light went away - may be worth a check/test even if just to rule it out

Engine Check Light

Hi Snappy,

I have owned my 749 for 5 years since new and the check engine light comes on intermittently when stationary and goes out when I move off. It has always done this and there seems to be no apparent cause. The bike has always run perfectly and I have had no problems with it. Perhaps it is a just part of the Italian bike experience!!

Mine always comes on when i stop at lights if i hold the clutch in for more than about 5 secounds. If i knock it out of gear as soon as i stop it doesn't come on. It's done this ever since i got it at 2 years old so i just live with it, hopefully it's just a quirk.
