Cleaning exhaust shroud?

Hi chaps. My 749s has the silver frame and exhaust shroud. I don't have a problem with the colour of the frame but that shroud suffers with the smears from the exhaust gases. What have you guys found best to clean the smut off? Would I be better getting a black shroud (don't fancy the carbon one)?

Have you tried brake cleaner?
If it isn't painted, fine wire wool should do it, this made my end can like new!

Smut Elimination

Hi, I found that paint restorer worked really well. It cleaned the smuts no problem and did not damage the shroud.

Paint restorer - eek! How am I gonna translate THAT down the local "Awkward B@stard's" convention??? I'm finding down here that if you don't say exactly what you want you get the answer "no". I'll have to give it a go though.......

Bike: 03 749s Yellow.

Try a clay bar, loads to choose from on ebay.

Not quite sure how it works but it seems to get everything off.

Thumbs up Smut Removal

Hi Courageous, don't be alarmed I use AugoGlym paint renovator, it has proved to be excellent and does not damage anything. Metal cleaners such as Autosol or Brasso have a much more aggressive action IMHO.
