I've stuck with the original screen for that reason and it works well. All the wind is directed onto your chest and takes the weight off the wrists.

I've done about just over 1000 miles on mine. Only mod is termis which are awesome but your neighbours won't think so! I reckon the best mod you can do is to move somewhere where it doesn't rain every bl00dy day so you can ride it

Henners, you should have waited till end of september as Ducati are bringing out a 583cc version of the 848.
Roy, have you got a pipe to go with the slipper clutch.

I see price rises in September, hence I'm buying now!

Rode the 1098 this morning at the bequest of some mates and what a beast! Power wheelies in 1st, 2nd and 3rd ... brakes are very powerful and sensitive, I found myself either going too fast or braking too hard It's too much for the roads I ride that's for sure.

Even more happy with the 848 now and glad Snells gave me the chance to ride both.

Henners I can understand you wanting to justify your purchase and I'm not having a go at you, but the 1098 isn't too much for the roads the average person rides in the UK. Jumping on one after a lower powered bike is sure to have a daunting effect, but as with anything you get used to it.

I'm sure the effect would be the same for me in jumping on a Desmosedici, but I'm not claiming that's too much for the road.

I used to ride 30hp two-fiftys in the seventies and was blown away by the power of a 750 at about 65-70bhp, it scared me silly. I now have 100bhp on top of that and I'm quite used to what happens when you twist your right hand.

Thanks Royum - sorry if I gave the impression I rode both bikes back2back, I didn't. I rode the 848 on Saturday and the 1098 this morning (Wednesday). In the past I was happy with the power of my 998S on the road however I found the power delivery of the 1098 too instant and the brakes too powerful for me and I can imagine the problems I might face on slippery/greasy roads in the autumn. The 848 is plenty quick enough and the power delivey is smoother and more progressive which is what I'm looking for - appreciate other folk have different needs and aspirations

QB fairings have got kevlar backing and I believe all their carbon is wet laid rather than pre-preg. Judging by what I've seen, DP can be a bit thin - one layer for the Monster screen I have...

I'd go with whoever has stock. DP have been terribly slow recently.

And re the brakes thing: personally I find the 1098 brakes as a package don't give enough feedback - it's just raw stopping power. I've got a smaller m/c on asbo working with 1098 calipers (and Nogs PF pads) and that gives excellent feedback and progression without losing any of the power. To the point that you can do rolling stoppies into Druids.

... some of my best friends are Druids

Thrown the QB catalogue at her plus carbon tankpad, vinyl numberboards, adjustable rideheight adjuster, Pazzo levers and mirror extenders.

19 days to go ...
