awesome, she just needs some loving over the next couple of days cos we got rained on

but nothing a can of acf50 cant fix, some super resin polish & some elbow gwease.

loved the ride, sounds awesome with the zards on it too.

I do have 3 issues though that i hope to get sorted

1- REALLY misty clocks when i got rained on, i know ducatis are known for tjis as it happened on my s2r but i still thought theyd of figured this out by now, never mind i shall push for a new set
2- Cant for the life of me get the bloody steering lock on, not sure if the barrel itself is buggered but ive tried all manor of twisting, pushing, fiddling and waggling but nope....again warranty should fix that
3 - My more concerning one, after riding back for about 2 hours and having the bits of rain i stopped near my house and got some petrol, had a quick drink, chat to a mate....looked ta my bike a bit......then a bit more...... grinned lots..... then as i rode off and dropped down into 1st at a mini roundabout the clutch just failed, it was weird, the lever felt almost squeaky? like it wasnt a smooth motion and even though i was in gear it wouldnt engage fully. So i turned her off at the side of the road, pulled the lever a few times, still felt funny but away we went.

Pulled into my street and the same thing happen for a slight moment and went again???

maybe the slave cylinder? god knows, pished me off a tad cos other than that it was amazing and i can wait to bung on my new screen (when i find a T7 torx) whack on my hugger and heel guards and go out with mate mate on his s4r.

gonna ring cornerspeed in themorning and see what neil reckons, the clocks and the clutch are definately warranty jobs cos thats not my fault, the steering lock maybe im missing the knack?

Oh ducati, cant you just sell me one bike with no issues? Nah, wouldnt be a ducati then would it

not sure how your going to get on with the clocks? I work part time for a ducati dealer and had no joy getting new ones, although now they dont apear to suffer as much as they used to. the steering can be a bit fidly, just put it on full lock (to the left) and it should go, just be aware not to put the parking lights on by mistake, it doesnt take long to kill the batery.
The clutch issue sounds very strange, never heard of any problems on the 848. Hope they can sort out for you and it doesnt spoil the experiance. The 848 is the best bike I've had and its been faultles for the last 6 months and 4500 miles. I'm pretty sure when your teathing problems are sorted you'll be saying the same

I have both the 1098s and the 848 and the clocks mist on both. Just live with it you shouldn't be looking at them anyway

Bike: 848 in Red.

Sorry to hear of your troubles.

Hopefully your dealer will sort out your issues quickly. Mine went back to the dealer three times (twice on the back of a AA wagon).

Once you get it back you'll be having so much fun on her you'll forget the crap you had to go through. I did!

Do i have to go back to the dealer? Its just that cornerspeed are very local but just classed as a service centre?

If you just got it today your best option is to take it back to dealer you bought it from.
You not gonna get new clocks though.

well we may have a problem with that, you see Andy at italsports is who i did the deal with and he went away on holiday for two weeks last saturday and all i did was go and pick it up yesterday from his 2nd in command who knows nothing about it. But i wll try them and see if they will push ducati.

As for the clocks ive read plentys of comments about them since and it does sound like ducati arnt replacing them as warranty items but without sounding too arsey there no way they can stand there and say that they are 'fit for purpose' (key point) whilst in conditions of changing humidity (raining etc) Not only that in all fairness i would think the british transport police would deem them as non road worthy if they thought every time a Ducati 1098/848 rider was caught out in the rain he couldnt read his speedo,

Still loving my new beauty though and its not ruining my experience, just would prefer to get this sorted with ducati UK & the delaers etc right now so that we all know where we stand.

My clutch is the main concern, have any of you guys swapped out for a different slave cylinder yet or are you using the standard one?
