wrist ache!
Did about 120 miles on my ss today, from Rutland water right up and around the Lincs wolds, all good when on the twisties etc,..not so good round town in traffic, anyway i stopped around half way and lifted the handlebar clamps up by 4mm ,(i had acouple of allen keys in my tool roll),using the 4mm key to ensure the gap was equal on both sides,i was surprised how much more comfortable the bike was even just with this small movement,i was toying with buying some Gilles,or heli bars but i think i will see how i get on with it as it is before i go shelling out around £200.

Heli Bars
I fitted Heli Bars to my 06 749 and do find it makes a big difference.
Everyone is shaped kinda different and has aches in various areas, especially due to advancing years!
I got mine from Bykebitz last year, i think around £160 ish, not bad for a well made product.
Regards
Mike

When out on my 2002 ss/ie I get the same wrist ache when in traffic, I'm looking at changing the bars as I don't get any wrist ache on the old carby ss. It's more the downward angle of the bars that seems to cause the problem, I use my legs a lot to grip the tank and even alter my hand position, but I still get the ache !!! Anyone fitted other bars to an ie/ss to get over this problem ?

Just grabbed a pair of Gilles variobars off ebay, they were advertised as being off a 2005 Blade, but have the same size clamps as my SS,50mm,i got in touch with the UK importers, and made a few enquiries ,the friendly guy told me that these bars are not Bike 'specific' and if the clamp dia is the same they will probably fit,so i took the risk..arrived this morning ,fitted this afternoon, took about 2 hours.Bit of trial and error involved in getting the correct position so that the fluid resevoirs don't clash with the upper fairing, but nothing a bit of patience won't solve.
They look really trick, just got to wait till it stops ****in' down, then i'll go for a test ride, will post pics asap.
