thats about when my one sets off too,it was for gearing purposes i was asking, because on a recent holiday the bike was revving straight upto near that rpm in top gear, and i had to hold back,as it wanted to carry on!standard gearing is used, and the aprillia behind me was clocking 147,i thought max would be a 130 ,135

What gearing was that on? With a 14T front sprocket I can see just over 140 indicated.

I run 14/39, top speed have had 143 on digital speedo, but as the (1998, yes a very early one) 900ssie engine is in a monster frame with no fairings at all it had become quite hard to hang onto by then
I also ran out of road (sorry, I mean track )

I can regularly push mine to 140 indicated, which is quite exciting . But only about 130 odd in reality

i am running totally standard gearing, funny thing is,as i was navigator,i was always in front, and on motorways i would stick at an indicated 90,and the 3 other bikes would all be clocking 105,rare to have a speedo under reading,or maybe the cable is on the way out?

If you have the DP ECU which comes with the DP cans it pushes the red line to 9500 on the 900SS.
Have fitted a Sigma trip computer which, amongst other things records max speed. Was tailing an M3 and the red mist descended when he started pulling away. A quick glance at the rev counter showed the needle way round at the 9k mark. I had forgotten 6th, Doh!
Didn't think too much about it until I checked it a week later 141. Not bad for 5th with standard gearing.
