Thumbs up

Hi,
well, its seems that it is or was the shim/washer behined the alt, and also some work was carried out in this area 3 years ago, and it seems that these bits are from that period, all bits look ok and are tight and no movement, so look like its all ok after all, thanks for all your help in idetifying the part, I actually bought this part to check it out, and bingo,
cheers,
Andy.........

Have you actually checked behind the flywheel though? The third bit of the washer could be in situ and trapped. That's why they usually fail. They get pinched on assembly. It'll be tight, and won't move, but the shim has failed.
The oil must've been changed in 3 years and those would've hit the sump plug long before.
Honestly, unless you have physically checked, i wouldn't make the assumption. You might be right, but....................
It could be an expensive assumption.

Hi,
I must admit you are right and that I should at lease remove the alternator, to check this, just to be sure, my main problem here is getting it off, I did wonder if anybody out there in southampton area had a alt clamping tool, they maybe willing to lend me, to make it easyer to remove, and to refit, it would certainly be comforting to know for sure, in the mean time I am trying to think up a device that will do the job,
Andy.......

This is what a mate manufactured out of plate steel. Works perfectly.
