There's a single seat in the classifieds on here Chris, it does need painting though, or are you wanting to keep the twin seat ?
Ian.

desmoworld.de
Then click over "S".
I had one of these over my seat on the 900SS. Not cheap, but painted, and good quality. Comes with replacement seat latch as the seat unit is pushed fwd abt 3mm to accomodate the thickness of the fibreglass.
The chap who runs Desmoworld speaks good english and is v helpfull.
Regards
Mahout.

Might be quicker to find if you click on "Zum Shop" then enter the word "sitzbank" in the field called "schnellsuche" on the left.

Not cheap? 512 euros for some painted fibreglass and a bracket. Copulate with my ancient footwear!

Remember with any change like a single seat conversion, it will be noted on your MOT as a single seater (even if you just have a cover fitted) and that will prevent you from legally carrying a pillion unless you get it re-MOT'd !

Does anybody else agree with that statement.
As far as I knew the MOT refers to the original V5 designation which cannot be changed by the MOT tester.
I agree that some insurance companies may say that if it has a factory fitted single seat you cannot deviate and some have this childish "no pillion passengers" clauses. Is Bertagain an MOT tester? Are there any other experts out there.

No mate, not an MOT tester, but that doesn't change the fact that the bike will be listed on the DVLA database as having only one seat if it only has one seat when it is MOT'd - it's simply a number that the tester puts into the computer whilst doing the test .... same thing goes if you removed the back seats from a car!
If Mr Plod does a check with his in-car database, it will say 'Seats - 1'. If you're carrying a pillion then you'll get a pull. What state the vehicle was in when it left the factory (ie - what the V5 says) is irrelevant at that stage ....

Hmmmm. When I MOTd my SS in May I heard the guy utter the words "Single seat, no pillion footrests. Well, cover fitted over second seat."
All becomes clear now

Thanks Bertagain, that is a useful thing you have told us. I'll be more wary about fitting a single seat cover on the bike now. Squirrel

I'd still fit it, but like the termis and the small numberplate (a valid reason for owning one is still beyond me! but lets not digress), retain the original's for the MOT.

OK if you're fitting a single seat, but does that mean my VFR800 standard-issue rear seat cowl should be removed for MOT and put back again afterwards? What about people carriers with foldaway seats in the back that change them from 5 seats and a boot to 7 seats, can they only be used in the configuration that they're MOT'd with? That's crazy.

I looked for clarification of this question here Single seat cover on motorcycle - Bike Testing - Public Category (Ask questions about your car and the MOT) - MOT Testing Forums
the experts say that they may record the number of seats visible but the only MOT requirement is security of rider's seat and both sets of footpegs. It is then legal to ride with a pillion as long as there is adequate seating.
I'm sure there is a 7 seat Zafira discussion somewhere in that forum as well. I would have thought that the MOT tester will pull out foldaway seats. The problem would be with the versions where 6 & 7 sit in your garage until you need to slot them in.
