Oil Dilemma - Can't see in Sight Glass!

Hi all
I am part way through servicing my bike and I cannot see the oil in the site glass. It is covered in the dreaded milky residue. I need to give the bike a good burn to try and disperse it but want to be sure I have the right amount of oil in. The handbook says 3.9litres but I guess that is from empty, there is bound to be a bit of oil left in. I have put in 3 litres, would that be ok or do you recommend a bit more?

On the assumption that you have changed the filter and filled it before replacing it, I'd go for 3.5 litres to start with rather than just 3.....900ml is almost 25% of what you should have, so its a lot to be short of when you fire up Steve......

I empted out just short of 3 litres plus whatever I could not get out of the bowl. I have put about 3.5 litres in, so should be enough, I still have it in bits as I am checking belt tension etc, also gonna get my local bike shop to check valve clearances, not confident enough to do this although I want to learn eventually.

TOP TIP: when replacing fairing bolts dab a touch of grease on them, mine were a bitch to get out and I have cricified two of the rubber nut thingys on the inside and will have to get some more. Oh well! you live and learn.

I have fitted a K&N filter and Irridium plugs, when I fired it up to circulate the oil, it seemed to run alot smoother from cold and had a more instant crack when blipping the throttle, also seems to idle a bit faster too. Am I just imagining it? Will see when I give it a run.

I bought some fairing bolts here,they should do yours aswell might be worth an email,they're about 5 times more expensive from Ducati!
